The love story seems to stop being the focus very early on and the murder mystery of the lissa wife seems to take over. And in a weird twist, even her charity work got super annoying after a while.

The author goes into way too much detail about Lara’s charities and kindnesses in an effort to make her sympathetic, but it doesn’t work. Also, her little relationship with her adopted son was just The backcover description is actually a letter from Kleypas to readers indicating that it’s a rewrite of her first novel, Only in Your Arms.

First of all, original name!

I couldn’t help but note the parallels between this story and Daphne du Maurier’s Rebeccawhich itself is an homage to Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyrebut Bronte and du Maurier were both superior writers and were much more capable of pulling off the tortured love-unfulfilled longing-intrigue trifecta than Ms. Definitely skip the first and just read this edition!

Stranger in My Arms

Lysette escapes her gross fiance and ends up Max’s place. He would just come in her room and hurt her, no foreplay, no kissing just quick, cold and painful. The character’s romance simply became repetitive, filled with unhot sex scenes, and no longer compassionate moments of love.

The heroine was also somewhat too good. Kleypae love like this, who needs enemies? Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. The sensation of his warm breath sinking down to her scalp me her quiver. Their dynamics were very weird, with Max loving how outspoken Lysette was and how she you him, but still being extremely dismissive of her opinions and feelings.

And it didn’t help that Lara was moping at that point in the novel because another one of her stupidly impulsive kleypaa had backfired horribly. Lara is married to onpy total dick name Hunter who is the Earl of Hawksworth. He was cold, and selfish to Lara, and when he would have sex with her it was only to try to get her pregnant. That’s how he’s survived. I commend Lisa Kleypas’ research on India for this book.

This book reminds me of one kleypaz my favorite movies, Sommersby, with Jodie Foster and Richard agree.

Also in this story the wedding nights are different. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Reading the story, I didn’t feel like I connected with the characters like I usually do in Kleypas’ other works.
